2018 Simulation of ACFAS

Nathalie Voarino, PhD candidate in Bioethics at the Université de Montréal and scientific coordinator of the Responsible AI Declaration of Montreal, presented the results of the citizen's deliberations of the Montreal Declaration as part of the Journées de la relève en recherche de l’ACFAS.
The ACFAS and the intersectoral student committee (CIE) of the Fonds de recherche du Québec recruited some thirty students from all horizons to take part in the first edition of a new consultation method: the 2018 simulation. A brief team policy on a theme related to a stake in society, artificial intelligence.
Ms. Voarino also acted as a juror to select a short policy that will enrich the final version of the Responsible AI Declaration.

AI Retreat with the Syndicat de la fonction publique et parapublique du Québec (SFPQ)

Approximately 50 elected officials and employees from different unions gathered in Montreal to reflect on the issues of AI on the transformation of work.
Simon Lacoste-Julien, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Operations Research at UdeM and Christophe Abrassart, Professor at the School of Design at the Faculty of Planning at UdeM, co-founder of Lab Ville Prospective, and Scientific Co-Director of the IA Declaration, responsible for the IA, gave lectures on AI and the ethics of AI, particularly in the working environment.
Co-construction workshop in Paris

The co-construction workshop at the Centre culturel canadien de l’Ambassade du Canada was most successful.
Professor Laurence Devillers, professor of computer science at Sorbone University, joined Marc-Antoine Dilhac, professor of philosophy at University of Montreal and Christophe Abrassart, professor at University of Montreal's Faculty of Planning, both co-directors of the Declaration for Opening Conferences.
The participants from all horizons discussed prospective scenarios addressing issues of democracy and fake news, environment and AI in the working environment.

Day of Reflection on the Ethics of AI in Arts and Culture, with the Coalition de la diversité des expressions culturelles (CDEC-Canada).

A discussion group made up of professionals from different organizations, such as the l’Association nationale des éditeurs de livres, l’Association des professionnels de l’édition musicale, l’Association des réalisateurs et réalisatrices du Québec, la League of Canadian Poets, la Société des Auteurs de Radio, Télévision et Cinéma, l’ACTRA, Meta D and of course the CDEC, discussed issues of AI specific to the artistic field.
The discussion was moderated by Christophe Abrassart, professor at the School of Design at
University of Montreal's Faculty of Planning, co-founder of Lab Ville Prospective, and scientific co-director of the Responsible AI Declaration.
There was discussion about copyright and co-creation by AI, cultural diversity, receptions, algorithms of recommendation, algorithmic censorship and current art.
The Coalition works with its members to develop a cultural ethics of AI.
